Who we're looking forToyota's North America Safety Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Industrial Hygienist for Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina.Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC), the company's first automotive battery plant globally, will be the hub of developing and producing lithium-ion batteries for our expanding portfolio of electrified vehicles, and so much more. When TBMNC comes online in 2025, it will have 14 production lines including four supporting battery production for Hybrid Electric Vehicles and 10 supporting battery production for battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.This position will work Weekend Night Shift - 5:00 PM – 3:00 AM, Thursday – Sunday.The Industrial hygienist shall be able to provide technical assistance to plant and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and/or Company health and safety regulations.The person in this role will support the Toyota Safety Department's objective to prioritize safety through standardization, achieve the best safety performance, and an incident-free workplace.What you'll be doing

  • Lead, support, and drive safety initiatives within the Industrial Hygiene program
  • Conduct exposure assessments which include the selection and recommendation of appropriate controls including engineering, management, training, and personal protective equipment
  • Conducts quantitative monitoring/sampling for chemical, physical, and biological stressors
  • Review plans, and procedures, and assist in design specifications to ensure the implementation of approved industrial hygiene practices
  • Investigate overexposure, accidents, and deviations from approved industrial hygiene practices and assist in the implementation of corrective actions
  • Provide input to hazardous material communications
  • Administration of the Chemical Approval Process
  • Managing all Industrial Hygiene (IH) related internal company requirementsWhat you bring
    • Bachelor's Degree or higher
    • Industrial Hygiene experience, including experience conducting industrial hygiene evaluations within a manufacturing environment
    • Experience with or exposure to safety systems, regulatory policy and compliance, equipment engineering or similar
    • Experience gathering and analyzing data and visualizing data through effective reports and presentations
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to complete pivot tables and VLOOKUP.Added bonus of you have
      • Bachelor's Degree or higher in chemistry, biology, industrial hygiene, environmental science, environmental health, or environmental engineering
      • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
      • CSP certification or other Professional Safety Certification(s)
      • Battery Manufacturing experience
      • Hazard identification experience
      • Safety incident investigation experience
      • Chemical manufacturing experience
